Brooklyn, NY : Chez Bushwick / molecule
Chez Bushwick, an artist-run organization based in Brooklyn, is dedicated to the advancement of interdisciplinary art and performance with a strong focus on new choreography. To support this mission, Chez Bushwick works to strengthen neighborhood alliances in the Bushwick area of North Brooklyn by offering highly-accessible, low-cost rehearsal space and performance opportunities, in addition to growing arts programming in local public schools. Aside from the studio at Chez Bushwick, the organization also oversees, structures, and supports the activities of CPR - Center for Performance Research, a L.E.E.D.-certified green building in Brooklyn, of which Chez Bushwick is a founding partner.
For Society of Molecules, we would like to link our current project entitled CAPITAL B: Coalition of Art & Performance Initiatives Towards A more Livable Bushwick.
This project initiates and facilitates local networks between dedicated art directors, artists, community organization administrators and small business owners to further strengthen arts-based economic development and urban revitalization in Bushwick. With this engaged network, CAPITAL B aims to activate and support the inclusion of local voices on both city and national levels. We are interested in efforts that can inspire neighborhood alliances to impact their locality through real estate interventions.
